Other skin conditions that require the promotion of skin healing

A specialised plasma pen-device creates ionisation of the air between the tip of the device and the skin to generate plasma and the difference in potential between the two points produces arc.  It is this arc that delivers energy to the epidermis and instantly shrinks the targeted skin. The tissue sublimation and tightening give this latter process that makes plasma in skin procedures so appealing.

How many treatments are required?

The number of treatments varies according to the individual’s skin healing responses. Most clients’  response to skin tightening will be dramatic whereas another client with the same condition and severity may require two or three treatments. Appointments must be spaced out by 8 weeks as the final results from plasma treatment can take around 6-8 weeks for the skin to produce collagen.

How long is a session?

A typical session depending on the size of the treatment area will last no more than an hour,  although patients are required to attend the appointment an hour prior to the actual procedure to have topical numbing cream applied to the area which will be treated.

More detail about the session:

After applying the topical numbing cream, the plasma pen is ten held close to the skin and lots of little sparks are delivered all over the treatment area. This can cause small dry spots that will crust over and flake off within a week. Photographs will be taken after your treatment and kept as well.

Consultation

We will ask you to complete a medical questionnaire to verify that you are suitable for Plasma blast treatment. Photographs will be taken prior to the treatment and you will be asked to carry out a patch test. Together we can plan your treatment.

Aftercare

1) Make sure to not wash the area or wet it for at least 24 hours.

Whilst the area is dry, scabs will form and protect the wound from the outside influences. When the scabs become wet you risk them falling off prematurely which will leave the wound open and be subject to infection risks.

2) Avoid hot baths and extreme temperatures

Heat can increase the swelling to the wound and can increase the swelling to the wound and steam can cause precipitation which can increase the likelihood of scabs falling off.

3) Avoid touching the area

The more you touch the area the more likely you are to spread bacteria and cause infections or  knock the scabs

4) Do not pick or scratch the scabs

It is important that you allow the scabs to fall off naturally to reduce the likelihood of scarring or  pigmentation

5) Make sure to wear sunscreen!

All clients should avoid direct sunlight post-treatment and it is necessary to wear UV 50

We will provide all clients with aftercare ointment which should be applied for approximately 3-5  days.

It is normal to have some form of swelling and a burning sensation in the next few days after the treatment.
